Submission Rules
- You cannot post links to videos made with source from other videos because vids made in that way violate the standards of the vidding community in which the BMVD participates. The database managers can't stop you from using source stolen from your fellow vidders, but we strongly object to the practice and don't want to tacitly endorse it by helping to publicize such vids.
- You cannot post links to videos involving real people or depictions of underage sex because those things are really, really against the law in most parts of the United States, where this site is hosted, and we'd like to keep this site open without the attention of too many lawyers, thank you. Also, along with pornography, these things violate the Terms of Service agreement with our hosting server.
- You cannot post what we have started to lovingly refer to as "powerpoints". By this, we mean you cannot post music vids that are simply still images set to music. You must using moving clips in your vids. Still images do not count.
- You cannot post links to episodes or clips for download because this is also against the law in the United States, where this website is hosted; see above re: lawyers and our TOS agreement. Sites which post Buffy/Angel episodes or clips for download are at risk of getting shut down by the Fox lawyers for copyright violation, and we really would hate to have put all the work into this site, only to one day find a C&D letter in the mail from the real-life version of Wolfram & Hart.
- Check the spelling of the title, artist, summary and so forth. If you're sloppy about the details, people may think you're sloppy with your vidding too. We're not obsessive, but put it this way - if you like a song enough to vid it, you must like it enough to google for the correct spelling, right?
- Make sure that you understand the categories, "Romance: Slash", "Romance: Het", and "Romance: Unconventional" have been defined on two pages of this site, and yes, we have slightly changed things since taking over. Double check before you post.
- Do not repost vid info if things have changed, such as the URL, or it has been remastered. Simply update it by using the "Manage Vids" link in your Account Info page. If you really must put up an entirely new post for an old vid, then at least delete the old one.
- Do not create a new profile for every vid. The whole reason for the changeover was to make life easier on everyone, you, the vidder, us, the admins, and the watchers, who may have enjoyed your vids and want to see what else you have done.
- Use the preview button! It saves needless editing later!
